We do not know how long this emergency situation will last, but it seems obvious now that establishing contracts with the public sector can not only be advantageous but also good business practice.

Having a mixed portfolio of business from both the public and private sector can complement your business. Opportunities to establish higher levels of cash flow and financial security from the public sector, would be balanced with a higher risk and reward from the private sector, with the ultimate aim of establishing a more dynamic and secure business.

March 2020

March

During these extraordinary times I wanted to keep you informed, with an overview of public sector tender activity. Tenders and mini bid opportunities are still being issued and available, you should keep looking.

As we approach the Easter break, contract notice opportunities have decreased, as you would expect but we are still seeing approximately 40+ opportunities available each day.

As the public sector changes its work locations from office to home working, productive work has reduced, which I think has resulted in some current tender opportunities being extended –but not cancelled.

This will probably stabilise as public sector staff establish home working and I would expect tender activity to slowly increase.

Some of my clients and I have also noticed that some local authorities, have changed payment terms from 30/45 days down to less than 7 day payment –to assist supplier cash flow –particularly small local suppliers.

Keep looking to establish public sector business activity.
